I have received a ton of questions about how to fix emulator crashes. I have personally seen it myself as well, even running the latest release of everything (Eclipse, ADT, SDK, etc). The problem can eat a ton of your valuable time and the fix is oddly enough very simple. I really don't know why the error occurs, but I do have the answer of how to fix it and it is quite simple. When creating your AVD devices, simple specify an SD Card of 16 Mb and that will take care of it.
